Praise for Hold On (Book 2 of the Alexa Reed series)

Sometimes you can be so damaged that nothing can heal the destruction that has been caused your soul. But then sometimes if you are really blessed you will be given a second chance and that is what this installment of Alexa’s life is all about. While reading this book your emotions will run rampant with what ifs and why nots! The feelings that you experience as you read this story make an unforgettable impression on your heart and will not be easily forgotten. – Twin Sisters Rockin’ Book Reviews

Hilary Wynne has completely blown me away yet again! This series has quickly become a favorite of mine. I became emotionally attached to these characters in book 1 "Stay". This book was no different. In this book I cried a lot, got so frustrated and then said WTF. Hilary hits you with a twist you don't see coming. – Eye Candy Bookstore

Promise Me - Clean Excerpt © Hilary Wynne 2015
“Ever since you fell onto me in the stairwell, I’ve been unable to get a grip on how I’m feeling. I feel out of control and I fucking hate it.”
I can’t help but laugh even though he’s being serious. I smile down at him. “It’s called falling in love. Or being in love, and I’m glad you feel it too. I’ve been an emotional basket case since I fell on you in the staircase, and am glad it’s not just me. I spend my days feeling a little out of control. It only really gets better when I’m in your arms. That’s where I find my peace, and my balance.”
Julian sits up and turns to face me. He pulls me in for the night’s first kiss, and it’s tender and loving. “You make me feel everything, Alexa Reed. Todo. After Caroline left today, I wanted to call you. When I feel out of control I want to be near you. I stopped needing people a long time ago and you changed that. I need you.”
The kiss that started out tender turns more and more passionate as Julian pours his feelings into it. Somehow I end up under him, his body blanketing mine. We’re holding onto each other as tightly as possible. It’s one of those moments we often share, when we’re both trying to become one. I needed this from him. I need to know he still needs me.
“I love you. So much.”
“I love you too. And I’m sorry I have been giving you such a hard time the last few days. I know I haven’t been very easy to deal with.”
I pull away from his embrace for a minute so I can look him in the eyes.
“Please don’t apologize for how you feel, or act. You’re amazing. You have a lot on your plate and it would be very unfair of me to expect you to just act like everything is the same as before. I just want you to love me. That’s all.”
Julian kisses my forehead, then my eyelids, and finishes with a gentle kiss on my lips. “I could never not love you. You’re in my heart, mi amor, para siempre.”
Promise Me - Sexy Excerpt © Hilary Wynne 2015

My whole body tenses as she walks by me, and as soon as she passes the threshold, I shut the door and lock it. I turn and face Julian and see he has the nerve to be laughing. I walk over to his desk, push his chair back, hike my skirt up and climb onto his lap. I put my lips on his and run my tongue across the seam of his lips. “It’s not funny. I don’t like her and she wants to fuck you. Don’t argue with me about it either because I know girls, and she’s so obvious with that outfit. I’m not going to let it ruin my night because I’m the one here with you right now and you’re going to fuck me, or I’m going to fuck you.”

I can’t remember the last time I shocked Julian, but I guess I must’ve now because he’s speechless. He stares at me and reaches around and slides his hands down my back. His hands feel soft and warm as they move slowly down and stop just above my ass.

“Okay?”

Julian nods his head slightly and lifts me off of his lap. He reaches up under my skirt and gently pulls my panties off. He winks at me and smiles sexily. “I wanted to rip these off of your sexy ass, but you will be putting them back on when we get done fucking.” Julian licks his lips and I swear I have a mini orgasm as a smoldering warmth courses through my body. I’m buzzed and feel a primal need to claim my territory. All of my earlier craziness about the picture is gone as I realize I have a real, current threat to contend with.

I lick my own lips and reach down to unbuckle his belt. I also unzip his pants and watch as his rock hard erection springs out into my waiting hand. “Have I told you lately I love that you don’t wear underwear? I love the access.” I don’t wait for his answer as I kneel in front of him and take him in my mouth. I feel Julian’s strong hands tug gently on my ponytail as I slide my moist lips up one side of his throbbing shaft and down the other. When I run my tongue slowly around his soft head, I hear him moan deeply.

“Mmm, baby. You do this so fucking well.”

I’m feeling confident so when he puts his hand on my head and pushes down, making me take him all the way in, I don’t resist. He begins thrusting into me and rolling his hips rapidly. I can feel his legs start to shake. His movements are forceful and uncontrolled, and it’s obvious he has no interest in prolonging his release. I gag a little when he starts to explode into my mouth, but I don’t pull away until the last kick of his orgasm has ended. As soon as he finishes, I feel his hands under my arms. Before I get a chance to stand up on my own, he pulls me up and sits me on the desk in front of him. “Lean back and put your heels on the arms of the chair.”

This is so hot. Julian pulls my skirt up so it’s around my waist, and when I look up at him, his eyes are black with lust as he admires my naked body. He pulls his chair closer to the desk and gets right in between my legs. I put my heels on the arms of the chair just like he asked me to and bend my knees. His face is at an even level with my crotch and I feel his warm breath blowing on my sensitive flesh.

I try to scoot forward to initiate real contact and I hear Julian chuckle. “So impatient, sexy girl. I’m right here.”  With those words, Julian wraps his arms under and around my thighs, pulls me as close as he can without pulling my ass off the desk, and launches the most intense assault on my sex, licking and sucking on my throbbing clit, driving me crazy with his supremely talented tongue and mouth. I find myself trying to grasp onto something to hold onto and when I can’t find anything, I reach back over my head and grab onto the edge of the desk. I feel like I need to ground myself as he takes me somewhere otherworldly. It’s that fucking good. When Julian slides his tongue inside of me and flicks my clit softly on the way out, I take my turn and explode into his mouth. I literally feel the rush of wetness and when I hear Julian’s moan, I know he felt it too.

I need to lie still for a moment and get my breathing under control, but Julian has other plans. He puts his hands on my waist and pulls me off of the desk and onto his lap. He’s hard again and glides into me easily. He lifts me up and down as I ride him, and each time I slide down his length, the pressure on my clit sends a shockwave of sexual energy throughout my whole body. The orgasm I just had left me very sensitive and it’s almost unbearable.

We’re staring at each other with the same intense focus we get when we’re completely connected, and I see so much in his eyes. Right now he’s looking at me like I’m his world and I want to hear him say it. I want him to tell me once again that I’m all he wants and all he needs. I also want him to know he’s all I want and need too.

“You’re mine, Julian. All mine.” It’s more a statement than a question, but he answers.

“I am yours, just yours, and you’re all mine, baby.”

My whole core begins to contract as my third orgasm of the night starts to rush through my body. At the same time, I feel every muscle in Julian’s body tighten and tense as he releases himself into me. We cum together and cling to each other as we give ourselves over to the pleasure.

Have you ever woken up one day and said, “Today’s the day I’m going to do (insert thing here)?” Well, I did, and the result is my first novel, Stay. I always thought of myself as a decent writer, and then a trip down memory lane through my ninth grade book of poetry confirmed it. I realize that I have always had a romantic side and a way with words. With support from my husband and kids (and an unspoken agreement to leave me alone for a few hours every night), I embarked on this incredible writing journey.

I’m originally from sunny Southern California and spent my summers in South Florida. I attended college at FSU and received my Masters in New Mexico. I finally settled in the Washington, DC area. My happy place has always been anywhere near the water.

When I’m not writing, I help run a business with my husband, watch an inordinate amount of sports (my kids play something 365 days a year), indulge my competitive spirit on the tennis court, and spend time with my awesome family and friends.

I am an avid reader, but find my characters feel neglected when I hang out with other author’s characters for too long. When I do read, historical fiction is my favorite genre. I love traveling and experiencing different cultures, places, and times.

I feel so blessed that my love of books inspired me to finally do something that I forgot I had always dreamed about doing.

My someday has arrived!

The Playlists of our Fictional Love Stories

Many of the fictional boyfriends we love are rock gods, lyrical geniuses, or seductive singers and when the authors provide lyrics and music it is one more way for us to connect with the story. We can hear the song in our head or see the sexy male lead directly singing to us through a crowd of people.

Music doesn't just come from the fictional rocker book boyfriends we love, often times it plays an important role as an epic soundtrack of the fictional journey we take with characters through their emotional and physical highs and lows. Authors often add music to our imagination; inspiring an in-depth look into the emotions of their characters and not just for the romance novels featuring rock star leads.

For me, music has played a large roll in my life. Lyrics have picked me up when I’m down, kept me company while I simultaneously dance and fold laundry, and come along on a long drive with the windows down while I look ridiculous singing and dancing with the wind in my hair. Songs evoke emotion and thought, sometimes putting you in a memory-lane vice grip.  When songs are added to our favorite reads it adds another element to the story. The lyrics help us see the emotions more clearly, we can imagine the joy and relate to the sorrow more realistically, and we have a connection through what the music helps us feel.

Interview with Hilary Wynne

Recently, I reviewed Stay and Hold on by Hilary Wynne. Through doing these reviews I made contact with the brilliant and creative Hilary. She agreed to do an interview with me and I am so psyched to share it with all of you!! She gives us a look inside the mind that created the Alexa Reed Series. Enjoy guys!

Can you tell us 5 things your fans and readers wouldn’t have previously known about you before this interview?
  1. I come from a large family – three sisters and three brothers.
  2. I am really uncomfortable being the center of attention.
  3. If I could wear flip flops all year around I would.
  4. I just got my first tattoo a few weeks ago and I love it.
  5. I love to travel.
What were you like in high school?
  • I would like to think that I am pretty much the same now as I was in high school.  I’m a social person with a lot of friends from different backgrounds/parts of my life and I was then too. I was a multi-sport athlete then and still love to play sports and be competitive. I loved high school!
Who are some of your favorite authors and do you feel they have influenced your writing?

My Review: Hold on by Hilary Wynne

*Warning: I have already read the books I am covering, any and all posts may and do contain spoilers.

Hilary Wynne has just taken me on a roller coaster ride.
I laughed, I swooned, I got angry, and I cried. I went back and forth between these emotions as well. Hold on,  (A seemingly appropriate title, even for the viewer, considering the ride I just told you I went on) book 2 in the Alexa Reed Series does it for me again. Wynne delivers an even steamier and sexier read.

Excerpt:

“I love feeling you like this; so hard, so deep.  I don’t want you to stop until you come, baby. You can finish like this.”

I lift my ass higher and hear him groan as he squeezes my hip.

I know what my words do to him. He loves when I encourage him to basically fuck me harder. He picks up his speed, but is careful not to come too soon. Tonight he wants it to last so he gets lost in his rhythm. I let him take what he needs from me.

I need to move a bit and when I raise up, Julian takes hold of my hair and grasps it firmly in his hand. It’s a little rough but not so much that I can’t handle it. He tugs it and I take the gesture as an indication he wants me to sit up. When I do, Julian put his hand on my stomach and pulls me to him. My back is to his front and he holds me tightly as he explodes into me. He calls my name and completely lets go as his own orgasm wracks his body.

My Thoughts: Proclamations of Love

A post I recently did, my review on Stay by Hilary Wynne, inspired me, and gave me an idea for this post. I previously stated that I am a fan of the long moving speech; they grab your attention, make you listen, and change lives of characters in the fictional world. Here is a list of my all time favorite moving speeches, proclamations of love and belief. Some of these are from mediums other than books, which is a little off topic for this blog, but that’s okay, right? These are my favorites in no particular order. I’m selecting my favorites, but I can’t pick my favorite of the favorites and you can’t make me!! It’s too hard. :)

Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens

Kellan to Kiera

“I’m sorry. I was going to be stoic, and say nothing for as long as you wanted me,
but then we made love … and I’ve, I’ve never had that …
and I just can’t o back to being who I was before.
I want you and only you and I can’t bear the thought of sharing you.
I’m sorry.” He looked down sadly.
“I want to walk into Pete’s with you on my arm.
I want to kiss you every time I see you, no matter who’s looking.
I want to make love to you without fear of someone finding out.
I want to fall asleep with you in my arms every night.
I don’t want to feel guilty about something that makes me feel so … whole.
I’m sorry, Kiera, but I’m asking you to choose."

My Review: Stay By Hilary Wynne

*Warning: I have already read the books I am covering, any and all posts may and do contain spoilers.

There are very few rich alpha males in this genre that I like. Scratch that, the wording is wrong. There are plenty of rich alpha males I love, but honestly, it is not my book boyfriend of choice or preference. I’m more of the tattooed, ruff around the edge male lead. But Julian Bauer does not disappoint and he’s not exactly clean cut (emotionally/personality wise) or tattoo free either, so that is a plus.

My one major rant about Julian is the “metro look” of his style. I’m not too big on the pretty boys, so the “white pants and loafers style” doesn’t really do it for me. I am from the area of South Florida though, and Hilary Wynne hit the nail on the head for that “Miami look.”  This gripe for me can be easily over looked, especially in a book boyfriend, due to the fact that Julian has won me over in every other aspect. He’s hot, dominant (but not overly controlling), patient, persistent, and great at the sexy talk.

The part where I said I live in South Florida bring me to my next point. It is always exciting to pick up a book and see that it’s location is set in your neck of the woods. It brings the imagery to life, easier to visualize, the picture is clear in your head. That’s not to say that getting lost in the travel of a book location you don’t know anything about isn’t great too, because it is. Creating the visual and travel via imagination is just as exciting. But back to Stay, and it’s settings. It’s exciting to know the city names, and to know what the locations look like. Julian takes business trips to Sanibel and this is somewhere very adjacent to the city in which I live. Sanibel is a place where I have spent time and even worked on the beautiful Island. You’re sitting there, reading, and then a city pops up that is pretty much a stones throw away from your back yard and you feel more connected to what is happening in the characters lives. I can see Julian driving down Periwinkle Way to the destination of his meeting.

Alexa is a mess, a straight up hot mess. But this is part of the reason I enjoyed her character and the book. It was real and relatable. Most every one has got all kinds of messed up stuff going on in their heads, the good and the bad. She’s not perfect. She has good friends, a good job, and well-meaning family (even if they are overbearing), but bad things happen to people and she is trying to deal, she is trying not to be a mess, even if sometimes she “goes dark.” Lexie (Notice, I’ve called her Lexie, we’re at the point where I can do this.) is also witty, with a rapid-fire tongue, and isn’t afraid to be sexual, which I also like about her.
