Synopsis

This is a standalone novel

Erotic Menage Romance
Mature Audiences

Mia Cantrell is happy to be rid of her lying, cheating, ex-husband. With her divorce final, Mia is moving on, grasping the reins of life once more. She’s learning to deal with the shattered remains while putting one foot in front of the other, taking control of her own decisions, and ultimately living one day at a time. Too bad the universe has put a hiccup (or two) in her well thought out plan.

Phoenix Pierce is putting the pieces back together after the death of his father. Between his multi-million dollar company, the NHL team he now owns, and the endless supply of women willing to share a bed for one night of uninhibited sex, he finds himself going through the motions. Until he meets Mia. Although he’s on a mission to win her, that doesn’t solve his problem of the other person he wants… the man he has denied himself for years.

Tarik Marx doesn’t think anyone could ever fill the void in his life the way Phoenix unknowingly has. That is until he meets Mia. Thanks to a fractured childhood, Tarik has to face a bigger problem: he doesn’t know how it feels to be loved. His past adds additional complexity when Tarik finds himself trying to figure out how he can have them both.

Is it possible for a million tiny pieces to come together again? And if they do, will that make the bond even stronger than before?

Review

A Million Tiny Pieces is a book that is a “Nicole Edwards specialty”. What is that, you ask? Nicole Edwards writes a ménage story like (IMHO) no one else does. She has a talent; she can take three people and somehow construct characters where a third of their soul seems to be missing until these three people find each other. She also makes her main characters highly likable. She surrounds them with lovely friends and often, loving, open-minded and supportive families that are able to look outside the box and accept an unconventional relationship (because they see that it makes their loved-one happy). And when reading her books, it becomes easy to understand each of the three and why they all complete a triad so beautifully. It becomes easy to root for a relationship where they are all so very supportive of each other and somehow it all makes sense. Oh, and yea, the sex...super hot!
In this book, we have Phoenix. He's a bit of a tortured soul; his dad (with whom he was very close) had recently passed away and Phoenix inherited his financial holdings. He also inherited his dad's "public relations officer" (other-wise known as his body-guard) since he's pretty wealthy - keeping his dad's body-guard makes his mom happy and he loves his mom so... But Tarik (the body-guard, PR guy) is also his best friend. His best friend he's always kind of had a thing for. But he felt he had to make a decision about his sexuality for his public image and decided since he's attracted to both, he would stick with women.
Tarik is pretty yummy. He's bi and doesn't really care about hiding it but doesn't flaunt it either; it's just who he it. He's strong and loyal and came from a tragic past and has only found his "place" in the world working for Phoenix and prior to that, Phoenix's dad. And he's always had a thing for Phoenix too.
And then there's Mia. Recently divorced from a great example of a total asshole. She's happy to put that nasty marriage behind her and move on to finding her path in this life.  She's got an amazing best friend who, along with her husband, completely has her back.  She's enjoying having her own place for the first time and reveling in it, going to college, and finding her way. Then, she spies Phoenix just back from a jog in her condo-building lobby and is intrigued. And he is as well...
There was something about that woman. And he intended to find out what the attraction was, even if he had to spend every waking moment pursuing her...
Her best friend, Alex, drags her out to a charity ball and there, she finds herself seated between two gorgeous men (Phoenix and Tarik) and finds herself attracted to both of them:
When he politely asked her to dance, she'd found herself unable to refuse him. It'd been a long time since she felt desired by a man, and tonight, there'd been two who had seemingly put her in their sights. Feeling slightly less off-kilter with his eyes on her, Mia graciously accepted his offer and had actually enjoyed herself. He was as intense as Phoenix, but there was an underlying easiness about him that had calmed her briefly.  Well, sort of. Her attraction to him was fierce, and she found the mere feel of him against her had caused her girl parts to sing...
These men both realize Mia is something special. Tarik, confident that Phoenix will eventually give into their mutual attraction, begins to realize that maybe Mia would be the special woman who might love them both. Both men dare to hope she wouldn't turn away from them once she realizes there is something special between the two of them too.
When these three begin spending time together, their chemistry makes it clear they are indeed finding something extraordinary with each other. And that chemistry finds them falling into a very lovely threesome...they all hope, however, maybe it could be more...
"Good morning," she whispered, looking back and forth between the two men. They were both standing on the treadmills on each side of her, sandwiching her between them. Her heart began a rapid thump against her ribs, and she briefly wondered whether or not they could hear it. "I didn't know you worked out here," Mia told Tarik, realizing it was the same thing she said to Phoenix. "Every day," Tarik answered, leaning back against the rail of the treadmill and crossing his massive arms over his enormous chest. Someone seriously needed to turn on the air conditioner.
Mia's ex-husband...yuck. Nasty piece of work. He broke her heart. But as she gets to know Phoenix and Tarik, she realizes her heart can mend and she can go on to be happy again.  She shares her wisdom with Tarik:
"I know what it's like to have your heart shattered in a million pieces, Tarik. It sucks big-time. But what I didn't know, until you and Phoenix, was that those tiny pieces could be pulled back together. Only when they do, the bond is stronger, more solid. That's what I feel for you and Phoenix. I love you both. With my whole heart. Every single one of the million tiny pieces that it once was. It's whole again. Stronger than ever"...
I really enjoyed this book. I gave it 3.75 stars instead of 4 because there were several issues I felt were left unresolved or that I really didn't understand (why it happened like it did within the story). I found I loved Phoenix, Tarik, and Mia. But things surrounding her ex-husband didn't make sense to me. The person he had aligned himself with also made no sense to me. And the resolution about her ex (toward the end) also kind of had me feeling like it suddenly wrapped up and by that point, seemed a bit out of character for him. Without these minor issues, it would have been a solid 4 stars for me. It is very sexy, the sex scenes can get pretty scorching. Nicole Edwards definitely knows how to write a ménage that works!!!
