Synopsis
When Harlow Manning’s rocker father goes on tour, he sends her to Rosemary Beach, Florida, to live with her half-sister, Nan. The problem: Nan despises her. Harlow has to keep her head down if she wants to get through the next nine months, which seems easy enough. Until gorgeous Grant Carter walks out of Nan’s room in nothing but his boxer briefs.
Grant made a huge mistake getting involved with a girl with venom in her veins. He’d known about Nan’s reputation, but still he couldn’t resist her. Nothing makes him regret the fling more than meeting Harlow, who sends his pulse racing. Yet Harlow wants nothing to do with a guy who could fall for her wicked half-sister—even if there are no strings between Grant and Nan. Grant is desperate to redeem himself in Harlow’s eyes, but did he ruin his chances before he even met her?
My Star Rating
My Review
Shh, don’t tell anyone but Grant is my favorite
Rosemary Beach leading man. Abbi has teased us with his whit and charm through
two previous love stories and finally in Take a Chance we are rewarded with
Grant Carter’s story to swoon over.
Grant has been the guy to count on for his Rosemary
family; both his life time friends as well as their new found life changers and
he has even fallen down the forbidden rabbit hole of loving the evil spawn,
Nan. But now we see him loose his breathe, head, and heart over Harlow and
fight his fear of love and trust. A battle I’m sure many of us are familiar
with.
The whole Rosemary Beach series has a number of
things I look for when choosing my next book; strong friendships, some mystery
and secrets, steamy sex scenes, and a leading man worthy of a story book
romance with a girl strong enough to love despite roadblocks. Grant and
Harlow’s story provokes emotions, feelings, and the warm and tinglies in our
hearts and a place a bit more south.
“When I was inside you for the first time I
realized I had found something I’d never felt, and it was terrifying. The
pleasure wasn’t shallow and I wasn’t untouched. Something inside me turned over
and I became addicted. To you. I don’t have any other explanation for you right
now. But never compare yourself to anyone else I’ve ever been with because
you’re all I want and all I see.”
See now why Grant is cause of some major shouting
from the rooftops?!
Harlow is quiet with manners and has an affinity
for reading love stories alone in her bedroom, but her bite is stronger than
her non-existent bark when someone (if you’ve read any of the other books in
this series I’m sure you can guess who that someone is) messes with people she
cares for.
