Synopsis
I can't stop thinking about that prick.
Caulter Sterling is a prick.
A filthy-mouthed, womanizing, crude, spoiled, arrogant prick.
The tattooed, pierced, panty-melting-hot son of a celebrity.
I hate him.
He's slept his way through practically every girl at Brighton Academy.
Except for me.
I'm the good girl. The responsible girl. The 4.0, class president, studied-so-much-she-never-lost-the-big-V girl.
And in celebration of graduation and adulthood, I just made the worst decision in the history of ever.
I lost my V-card to the devil himself.
It was just one night. So what if it was mind-blowing? Hit it and quit it.
Except I just found out that my father - the Senator, the Presidential hopeful - is marrying Caulter's mother. Oh, and this summer? We're hitting the campaign trail.
One big happy family.
I'm totally f**ked.

Review
I'm staring at the
blinking curser and trying to gather my thoughts about Prick. It's hard to know
where to start.
Caulter is a rich
brat. He's the son of a celebrity. He's a playboy who just graduated from high
school where he attended a private academy. He's known for womanizing and
being, in general, a spoiled rich kid. At the beginning of this book (and
throughout part of it), Caulter just isn't all that likable.
Katherine is a
senator's only child. Her mother died a few years ago and her dad sent her off
to the same private academy where Caulter went to school. She's come home for
the summer and it's re-election time for her dad. She's very used to being part
of the re-election train and knows what to say, how to act, how to dress, and
how to behave to make her dad happy. Her dad has decided what college she will
go to and what her major will be in the fall. He says pre-law. She wants to
major in art. But she knows what she'll really do is what her dad wants her to
do. But, a part of her isn't quite ready to give up following her own dreams
either.
She finds herself
shocked, therefore, when she returns home that her father announces he plans to
re-marry and introduces her to Caulter's mother, as his fiancé (she didn't even
know her dad was dating!). And of course, since family is important for the
campaign's image, she brings her son Caulter along for the summer. Caulter, the
boy she knew from school. The same boy she chose for a one-light stand before
she left school to get rid of her v-card. A boy she thought, by design, she
would never see again. The boy now standing in her house...
Excerpt
I don't need to
think about that night with Caulter. But once my mind goes there, it can't
stop. It doesn't want to stop.
Caulter is above
me, his movement gentle. I told him I wasn't a virgin; we both knew I was
lying. He's probably deflowered lots of virgins, I think; he's probably an
expert in virginity-taking. The way he moves inside me, his tenderness
afterward as he cleans me up, makes me think that's definitely the case.
Caulter Sterling: Virginity Removal Specialist. I picture the words on a
business card, and it makes me laugh.
So what do you get
when you put two young people, people who are intensely attracted to one
another together over and over again, expecting them to develop a new
step-brother/step-sister relationship when they've already been intimate? I'm
sure you can figure out the answer to that! These two really don't want to like
each other. They don't want to be hopelessly attracted to one another. They
fight. They avoid. They watch. They crave...
"It's not my
fault you live a sheltered life, one without orgasms." He returns his hand
to my thigh, sliding his palm up the side of my leg, and I slap it but he only
grips it more tightly. "I've had plenty of orgasms, thank you very
much." I'm not lying; I mean, I've given myself plenty of orgasms. Caulter
laughs, the sound mocking. "Not the kind of orgasms I give," he
says...Sliding his hand over my thigh, he reaches between my legs. "Your
panties are soaked," he says. "Are we just going to keep pretending
you don't want me?" "I can't stand you." "I don't like you
much either, Princess," he whispers...
I have to say I spent
the first third or so of this book not really caring about these characters. I
could have cared less whether they got together or not. But then things started
changing between the two of them. It got deeper. The feelings got more real. I
found myself starting to care despite myself. I started looking forward to reading
more whenever real life took me away during the day. I got to the point of
where I really liked these two. I liked who they were becoming. I especially
started liking Caulter (whom I really wanted to kick in the butt often during
the first half of the book). The book got really pretty good. It sucked me in.
And in the end (this
is a stand-alone), I did care. I did want to see whether they would end up
together or not, I did want to know if they would get caught by their parents,
and I wanted to know what would happen next. I was really enjoying this read
and once I finished it, I know I would be interested in reading more from this
author. Good book!!!
